豆沙多多的【豆沙馒头卷】Adzuki Bean Steamed Roll

 

我经常在家做红豆包，是个很方便的早点和点心，自己做的也可以按喜好调整豆沙甜度，没有买来的齁甜。

前两天特别想吃豆沙多多的豆沙馒头卷，刚好冰箱里有炒好的豆沙，就做了一批，真的特别好吃。

I make this Adzuki bean steamed buns a lot for breakfast, I liked that it is healthy and I could make it less sweet comparing to the shop bought version.

【豆爽】Tao Suan

 

绿豆爽（Tao Suan）是一种潮汕甜品，也是常见的马来西亚/新加坡甜食。它是绿豆瓣做的一款甜羹，一般配上切成小段的油条或椰浆一起食用。也可以加上切碎的马蹄吃，口感更丰富。

Tao Suan is a type of Teochew dessert and a common sweet dish in Malaysian/Singaporean. 

It is a sweet soup made from split mung bean and is usually served with cut-up fried you tiao (Chinese Churro) or coconut milk. It can also be eaten with diced water chestnuts for a richer texture.

【燕麦芋头甜汤】Taro Oatmeal

 

燕麦除了拿来做燕麦粥，燕麦玛芬、燕麦曲奇以外，拿来做中式甜汤也非常好吃，加了芋头的甜汤更香。

In addition to making oatmeal for breakfast, old fashioned oats can also be used to make oatmeal muffins and oatmeal cookies.

Oats are also very delicious when make into Chinese sweet soup/dessert. Adding taro gives very nice fragrant to the dish.

【泰式南瓜布丁】Sankaya Faktung

I love all kinds of desserts in Thailand a lot, and this pumpkin pudding is one of them, as I also love pumpkin alot. 

I saw some small Japanese pumpkins (Kabocha) in an Asian supermarket couple of days back, it was perfect size for this dessert, so I bought a few and made this dessert. It is really delicious.

我很喜欢泰国的各种甜点，这款南瓜布丁尤其长到我的点上，因为我也很喜欢南瓜。不久前在亚洲超市看到刚上市的日本小南瓜，就买回来做一次这个甜点，真的特别好吃。

【星空冰粉】Butterfly pea flower Ice Jelly

 

天气开始渐渐变暖，又是到了可以做冰凉甜点的时候啦。。。这款星空冰粉我想做很久了，成品真的很惊艳呢！

儿子说：“ 妈咪这款甜点真的让高级餐厅的甜点看起来就在骗钱呢！” 我可爱的儿子为了赞赏鼓励妈咪真的是花了不少心思呢！☺

The weather is starting to warm up a little, and it feels like it is time to make some cooking desserts again. . . 

I have been wanting to make this beautiful ice jelly dessert for a long time, and the finished product really is amazing!

Dear son said to me when I served him this dessert, that "Mommy, this dessert really makes the desserts of high-end restaurants look like scams!" 

My lovely son really put in a lot of efforts to praise and encourage his Mommy! ☺

【鸡蛋牛奶醪糟】Egg Milk with Fermented Glutinous Rice

前阵子做的酒酿我除了拿来做了酒酿发糕之外，还做了这款我最喜欢的甜汤。第一次吃鸡蛋牛奶醪糟是在兰州，当时就爱得不得了，嫩嫩的鸡蛋加上浓浓的奶香，再带点醪糟/酒酿的甜味。真是人间美味。

这款甜汤营养价值也特别高，工作不忙的时候我会做一碗来当早点，吃完身体暖暖的特别舒服。

I made fermented glutinous rice (Tapai Pulut) not long ago and used it to make Rice Huat Kueh, another dish I had in mind with the fermented glutinous rice is this Chinese dessert called Egg Milk with Fermented Glutinous Rice (鸡蛋牛奶醪糟).

I had this dessert the first time in a city in Northwest China, it was love at first try for me, I liked it so much that I had it almost everyday during my trip.

Now that I have learnt to make it at home, a bowl of this delicious and nutritious soup is such a great breakfast in the winter morning for me.

【薄荷冰粉】Mint Syrup Ice Jelly

冰粉和台湾有名的爱玉冰长得很像，也都是果籽加水搓出的果浆凝固成的。只不过两者用的果子是不同的植物，冰粉的原材料是一种教冰粉树、也叫假酸浆的植物的种子，它属于茄科，而爱玉则是用桑科榕属植物果子的种子做的。虽然是两种不一样的植物，做出来的凉粉口感却非常相似的哦！

几周前网购一些调料的时候发现同一个网站也卖冰粉粉，就买了几包打算天热的时候做冰粉吃。冰粉是中国南方夏天的一种小吃，冰凉爽滑，天热的时候吃着真的很舒服。

Ice jelly looks a lot like Aiyu Jelly, can also be served the same way. Though the texture and the way of preparation of these two jellies are very similar, and are both natural. They are both made from seeds of two very different plants.

Aiyu jelly is made from the gel from the seeds of the awkeotsang creeping fig found in Taiwan and East Asian countries of the same climates and latitudes, the plant belonged to the family of fig, where ice jelly is made from the seeds of Nicandra physalodes (Linn.) Gaertn, from the same family of Tomatillo.

I bought a few packets of ice jelly powder online few weeks back, since the weather is at the mid 90s F/30s C these days, I made this Ice Jelly for us as dessert, the whole family loved it very much!

【泰式芒果糯米饭】Thai Mango Sticky Rice (Khao Niaow Ma Muang)

夏天终于来了，超市里开始出现各种芒果，全都香甜美味。泰式芒果糯米饭是我们家每个夏天都要吃的甜点之一，前几天买的芒果熟度刚刚合适，今天的饭后甜点就是泰式芒果糯米饭啦！

Summer is finally here and so is mango season! A good time to make this classic Thai dessert khao niaow ma muang. It is the most famous of all Thai desserts, and is a must have for us every summer when mangoes are in season.

【巧克力甜甜圈】Chocolate Glazed Donuts with Sprinkles

俊宝最喜欢的点心之一就是甜甜圈，平时每每经过卖甜甜圈的甜品店都会要求我买给他吃。最近因为疫情俊宝已经六周没出门了，也好久没吃他喜欢的甜甜圈了。

趁前几天终于买到断货许久的面粉，在家带俊宝一起做一批甜甜圈，出来的成品他非常满意噢！

My son A loves donuts and it has been 8 weeks since he last had one due to the lock down situation in my town. 

Thanks to my neighbor T, who helped bringing me the long out of stock all purpose flour few days back, I can now make some doughnuts together with my son at home. 

A was elated and had 3 donuts in a day!

Thai Pumpkin Dessert 【泰式南瓜甜汤】

家里的南瓜结果了，非常地香甜美味。摘一只做我最喜欢的这款泰式南瓜甜汤，也分了点给邻居，他们都好喜欢。

注：如果南瓜是自己种的有机南瓜，可以用丝瓜布把南瓜皮刷洗干净后连皮一起切块煮，南瓜皮更营养哦！

I harvested the pumpkin at my front yard, it is very sweet and tasty, thus a good candidate for this Thai pumpkin dessert. I sent some to my neighbors and they loved it too!

Note: I cooked with the skin on as my pumpkin is homegrown, if you buy yours from the shop, you can remove the pumpkin skin.

Chinese New Year Lucky Bag 【福袋】

This lucky bag was made on the first day of Chinese New Year but I didn't had time to post the recipe. 

Since today it is still within the first month of Chinese lunar calender, I take the chance to post this recipe to wish all my readers the happiest and prosperous year of 2019/Year of Pig!

这个福袋是今年大年初一的时候做的。后来一直没有时间写食谱，趁今天还是农历正月，就写个福袋食谱祝福大家猪年顺利，福气满袋！

Jelebi 【印度油炸甜甜圈】

I have made a point to make one or two types of Indian sweets every year during the Diwali time in the past years. 

This year, it is Jelebi, a type of sweet similar to funnel cakes, it is just much smaller in size comparing to funnel cake.  It is made by deep-frying the batter in circular shapes and then soaked in sugar syrup until it is all coated with syrup. 

This sweet is particularly popular in the Northern part of Indian. it can be served warm or cold. 

过去十年间只要我工作不是特别忙碌，我都会在排灯节（Diwali）前自己做一两种印式甜点过节拜拜用。

今年排灯节前两天刚好我不上班，就做了这款比较复杂的油炸甜甜圈Jelebi。这款甜点材料其实很简单，却是非常难做的一个甜点，两天里我做了三次才算是比较满意了。它的难度在于熬制糖浆的温度和炸圈圈时的手势，完全的纯手艺要求呢！

这道甜点可以冷热两吃，各有各的风味。

Stuffed Red Dates with Sticky Rice Balls 【心太软】

I made Gold Fish Tang Yuan for winter solstice and have some left over glutinous rice dough that I freeze up. Since "Storm Cyclone" is in town and the temperature plummet to a single digit. 

It is time to thaw my glutinous rice dough and make yummy snacks with red dates and stay warm!

冬至时做金鱼汤圆剩的粉团我给冻上了。

这两天“炸弹气旋” (Storm Cyclone)肆虐美东地区，气温达到创纪录的零下二十度，天寒地冻的周末最适合做的事情就是在家做甜糯的甜点吃啦！

Mung Bean Cookies 【绿豆饼】

在家乡的时候每年过年我最喜欢的一款年饼就是绿豆饼，来美之后再没有吃过这款饼。

不久前我家附近的亚洲超市进了一批台湾产的绿豆饼。我买了两盒尝尝，味道和家乡吃的很相近。俊爹很喜欢，一盒十二只他一口气就给吃完了。

前天是个下雪天，刚好我不上班，整理厨房时找出一包有机绿豆，就自己磨了绿豆粉，做了绿豆饼。味道非常好，一出炉就被俊爹吃掉俩。

Mung bean cookie is one of my favorites Chinese New Year cookies, it has been years since I last had it. 

Sometimes back I saw some mung bean cookies imported from Taiwan being sold at the nearby Chinese supermarket. I brought some home to try, I liked it and hubby likes it even more, so much so that he finished the whole box in one go. I had to go back to the store to bring two more boxes later. 

Unfortunately, I did not find the same product in my recent visits to the store, we have been missing our favorite treats for some times now.

It was snowy and I was off from work on Thursday, since I was not in the mood to leave the house, I spent the day cleaning and the afternoon making these cookies with homemade Moong bean flour. 

Sweet Pumpkin White Fungus Soup 南瓜銀耳羹

Here it comes another pumpkin dish made with the pumpkin planted by Auntie Lisa.

It is again very dry and cold these days. I will made this white fungus soup, it helps me fight cold and dryness.

Note: White fungus or snow fungus is a slight yellowish dried fungus, after soaking and cooking it will become white and almost translucent in color.

White fungus is believed to be a good immune stimulant, it fights infection, inflammation, cold and cough, studies have also found that it has anti-tumor property, could lower levels of low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or the "bad"cholesterol). It is also believed to slow the aging process, though I am not sure if there is any scientific research supporting this!

天气开始变得干燥的时候会炖一锅银耳羹做早饭，刚好冰箱里还有阿姨送的南瓜，这次就炖了个南瓜银耳羹，排毒养颜润肺，还很饱肚喔！

Lotus Seeds Snow Fungus and lily bulbs Soup 【百合莲子银耳羹】

Fall and winter are both very dry seasons.I for one always suffer dry and itchiness during these seasons. Lotions or oil won't help much. This sweet soup is supposed to help prevent dryness during cold weather. It is a pretty good breakfast too!

每每一到秋冬我就觉得皮肤容易干燥痕痒，用很多润肤霜喝许多水都没用。炖一锅百合莲子银耳羹来调理一下，据说能养颜润肤哦！

Bak Tong Gou (Steamed Sweet Rice Cake) 白糖糕

One of my mom's childhood friend sells Kuih/cakes at the morning market. Her White Sugar Sponge Cake is exceptional, very crunchy, sweet with a touch of sourness.

I have to thank my sweet friend Bobo selflessly shared her recipe with me, this Bak Tong Gou (白糖糕）turned out exactly like I remembered.

我妈有个朋友是在早市卖糕点的，她做的白糖糕特别好吃，口感爽脆，甜味合适，加上白糖糕特有的微酸，常常让人欲罢不能。

昨天跟好友Bobo聊到了白糖糕的做法，她无私的跟我分享了她的食谱，我马上就动手了。今天早饭吃的就是这个。一入口，就感动得想哭。就是这个味道和口感。。。。真的很谢谢Bobo呢！！

Sweet Peanut Soup (Xiamen Peanut Soup) 【厦门花生汤】

Many years back when we first visited our native village back in China, my brothers and I discovered a small stall near the hotel selling local dishes and snacks.

This sweet peanut soup was one of them, I remembered going back for more everyday during our stay. It was just incredibly delicious, unforgettable taste even after so many years...

多年前回老家厦门探亲，和几个弟弟蹲在旅馆门口的一个小摊子喝这个花生汤，香甜好喝，后来的几天每天都到小摊子报到。那个味道许多年不忘。

花生蛋白质丰富，拥有好几种对人体有益的氨基酸，煮汤更是下火美容。天凉的时候来一碗热热甜甜的花生汤既可以饱肚，又可以养生喔！

Gingko Barley Soy Skin Sweet Soup

It suddenly got very cold this week here in the east coast of USA with more than 10 inches of snow. The air became very dry and cold, my lips crack and nose dried up, it's about time to make something that could help fight cold and dryness!

I saw the fresh bean curd skin and fresh Gingko at the Chinese supermarket today, it is perfect to make this sweet soup good to moist the skin and nourish the body!

Happy Diwali 2014 -- Besan Ladoo

The draft of this Besan Ladoo's recipe has been sitting in my draft folder since the Diwali day. I didn't had a chance to post it due to the festive season get together, followed by A under the weather and me got the nasty bug from him the day after. So here it is a little catch up on my post.

These yummy ladoos were made with homemade ghee and the residue from the making of Homemade Ghee, the residues gave the character of brown and white bits in the ladoos. It also gave the ladoos a slight twist in taste and texture, a true surprise and real yummy treat.
