Matar Paneer (Indian Cottage Cheese with Green Peas)

Paneer is a well loved cooking ingredient in Many families.... I used to make it at home, but we could get reasonably good paneer now at the local grocery shop. Thus making Paneer dishes is getting easier...

1/2 piece of paneer (around 200 gms)
1 Cup of frozen peas
1 Medium size tomato
1/2 Bombay Onion
2 green chilies
1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
1 inch of Cinnamon Stick
3 cloves
1/4 cup plain yogurt Optional

2 tsp Coriander Powder
2 tsp Ketchup
1 tsp Cumin Seed
1 tsp Cumin Powder
1 tsp Chili Powder
1 tsp Turmeric Powder
1/2 tsp Garam Masala
1 tsp salt or to taste

Some of the ingredients needed.

Blend together tomato, onion, ginger garlic paste, chilies into a paste.

In a lightly greased pan, brown paneer pieces (1 cm cubes).

In another cooking pan, add 2 tbsp of cooking oil, add cloves, cinnamon stick and cumin seeds. Fry till fragrance.

Pour in the tomato onion paste, cook until oil separated at the edge.

Now add most of the spices but garam masala and ketchup.

Stir the ingredients well, and now mix the yogurt with 1 cup of water, pour into the pot and bring to boil.

Add paneer pieces, and cook for around 2-3 minutes, add Garam masala and ketchup as seasoning.

Continue cooking for 3-5 minutes, and add frozen peas before switching off the fire.

It goes well with chapaties and rice...
