Cumin Fennel Sesame Bagel
There is no more bread at home, I wasnt in mood for shopping, so I decided to make some home made bagel...
2/3 cup warm water(110 F/45 C)
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 cup bread flour
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1 tsp active dried yeast
2 tbsps sugar
1 egg white
1 tsp black and white sesame mixed
1/2 tsp cummin fennel seed mixed
Make a dough from flours, salt, sugar, yeast and warm water, let it raised to double its size, knead out air, and divide it equally into six parts.
Beat the egg while till bubbles form, mix together sesame seed cummin and fennel seeds and about 1/5 tsp of salt. At the same time, bring 6 cups of water to boil.
While boiling water, make the dought round, and poke a hole in the middle, the hole should be about 1.5 inches wide. shape it like a donut, keep aside for about 10 minutes, at the same time, preheat oven to 350 F..
When the water starts boiling, keep the flame low and keep it simmer, now add the bagel one by one into water, boil it for about 45 secs to 1 minute, turn once in the middle.
Take out the bagel, brush egg white on top, and sprinkle the sesame cummin and fennel mix evenly, the egg white gives the shinny looks to bagel.
Bake for 35 minutes in the oven at 350F.
It goes well with cream cheese and jam!
