Sour Prune Drink 【酸梅汤】

酸梅汤 or sour prune drink is a traditional Northern Chinese beverage made from smoked plums (乌梅). It is also a drink prepared mainly during the summertime, it is believed to relief heat from body in hot weather, it is also used to ease digestions.

As the weather approaching 3 digits in the past days, I made this for the family instead of having sodas!



2-5 Dried black plum (乌梅)
25 g of Dried Howthorn
10 g of Dried Roselle (Hibiscus Sabdariffa)
2-3 Slices of Licorice
Rock Sugar to taste

2-5 颗 乌梅 
25 克 山楂干
10 克 洛神花
2-3 片 甘草
适量 冰糖

1. Prepared and cleaned all ingredients except rock sugar, place in a pot with 8 cups of water.

2.  Bring the pot to boil, turn to low to simmer for 30 minutes. Add rock sugar and stir to dissolve.

3. Strain into a bottle and chilled in refrigerator for up to 2-3 days. Serve chilled.

1. 把除了冰糖以外的材料洗净沥干放到一口锅里,加入八杯水。

2. 加盖煮滚后转小火煮30分钟,加入冰糖搅拌溶解。

3. 稍微冷却之后过滤到瓶子里冷藏,2-3天内喝完。
